Phnom Penh Animal Welfare Society

PPAWS was formed by a group of volunteers following a newspaper article in the Phnom Penh Post about Madame Loan and how she tried to help abandoned cats and dogs in Phnom Penh . Many of us have been rescuing cats and kittens whilst living in Phnom Penh without knowing that others were also doing the same thing. The newspaper article brought us together in an effort to combine forces and make a difference, however small, to the lives of the cats and dogs abandoned in Phnom Penh's Pagoda's.

Our first official fundraiser has begun! Send your favourite close-up photo of your beloved pets, and for $50, receive a beautiful drawing of them. At the moment we are only catering to people in Cambodia as we haven't yet sorted out shipping overseas, but please stay tuned! Visit Pictures for PPAWS on facebook to see more examples!

Joe finds his new home

November 2011
Joe was found in Kampot living with a Khmer family who simply couldn't afford to give him the extra care he needed. Joe was born without both front legs, however this hasn't slowed him down and in a couple of months he will be making the move all the way to Scotland to live with his new family.

Volunteer with us

If you are interested in learning more about us or volunteering your time, we have regular meetings, advertised on our facebook site the week before.

For volunteering, please get in touch via enquiries.ppaws@gmail.com

Can you foster and animal until it finds it's forever home? We have lots of animals coming in that would not survive if left in the pagoda and often need a little extra care. It is becoming difficult for us to take them all in on our own.

We always need volunteers to help us raise money.

We also ask for visiting vets to volunteer for a couple of days spaying and neutering some of our strays.

We are also developing education, medical and feeding programs that will require volunteers in the near future.

Please Note:

While we would love to care for all the stray cats and dogs in Cambodia, we currently only have the capacity to take in those in most need, being those left in the pagodas where they are not being cared for properly, and often close to death. We therefore cannot currently take on cats and dogs that people find around Phnom Penh. The best thing you can do is to ensure all the female strays around your house are spayed. Please feel free to advertise any rescued animals on our facebook site.
