Koh Rong & Sihanoukville Feb 2019

This month, PPAWS Vets were accompanied by Vet students from the University of Sydney, who are doing their placement with us in partnership with our partner; Vets Beyond Borders. The team traveled to complete a one week Mission on Koh Rong island and in Sihounkville town.

In Koh Rong we worked with Pups in Paradise who helped us organise the Mission on the Island, and in Sihounkville we worked with out partner Sihounkville Animal Welfare Cambodia, who joined us to visit Pagodas to provide treatments to animals there.

This was an ambitious trip to help as many animals as possible on an island with no Veterinary services and PPAWS tries to do this trip at least once a year. Our aim is to provide Rabies vaccines to stray animals, to help in the elimination of Rabies as well as desexing operations to reduce overpopulation on animals on the island. We also provide services to animals with owners who need to get their annual check up and vaccines!

The Mission was a huge success!

In Koh Rong we gave 107 Rabies vaccinations and completed 23 de-sexing surgeries. In Sihanoukville we gave 67 Rabies vaccinations to desex 5 cats, and 1 dog.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this Mission a success and we can’t wait to come back again!
